Chinatown (1974)

Chinatown is a film directed by Roman Polanski featuring Jack Nicholson, Faye Dunaway, and John Huston. It’s set in Southern California in the 1910s during the “Water Wars”, it tells the story of ex-cop-turned-private-eye J.J. Gittes being too nosy.

It’s funny how I sometimes find Hollywood classics out of nowhere, never having heard of them. This was one of those, I enjoyed every second of it. It’s a great pastiche of earlier film noir flicks from before WWII, and a great-looking film with great actors that I’ve seen here and there.

With an unforgettable cameo, a multilayered story filled with suspense and drama, and of course, a great soundtrack by Jerry Goldsmith, this may well become one of my favourite films to watch when I feel like looking at beautiful neo-noir moving pictures.
