Tigran Hamasyan — Shadow Theater

I’ve grown to love jazz over time, and after I went through most of the “classics”, I decided it was time for some contemporary music, so I went through Comblain Jazz’s line-up and found Tigran Hamasyan. I loved his style from the start and I was delighted to find most of his work on BitTorrent.
I learned he released a new album in 2013, it intrigued me, so I listened to it, and it was an unexpected bomb.
The album begins with dissonant notes from an old off-tune piano and alternates between frantic themes on the piano and drums and calm lullabies with Armenian lyrics. Refreshing.
Now I want to attend the concert he gives in February in Liège…
